The Actors Studio (Sydney, Australia) is a professional acting school based in Sydney, Australia. Established 8 years ago, the studio was initially founded as a place of practice for professional actors seeking to hone their skills for screen auditions. Over time the studio's program has evolved and expanded to encompass a comprehensive technique training program for actors. Today the studio runs up to 6 classes a week offering a complete drama school style training program preparing actors for professional work in theatre, film and television.
The studio has pioneered a unique training process designed to build performers who bring depth, honesty and a vivid sense of truth to their work. The process builds on the work of contemporary international master teachers including Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Constantin Stanislavsky and others.
The studio has been built on a strong ethos of providing a "no bullshit" approach to training, providing a supportive yet challenging environment where excellence and professionalism are carefully fostered at every stage in the process.
Our focus is on learning and craft. At The Actors' Studio we work on the underlying process of the actor. We illuminate in vivid terms the framework of skills and technique concepts essential for the actor to be aware of, and guide the actor through developing each essential skill one at a time. Our net goal is to help actors build a genuine process, and to develop an extensive tradesman's knowledge of their craft.

Clarence White
Studio Director
Clarence trained as an actor for 4 years under the late Hayes Gordon OBE (acknowledged as the first person to bring Stanislavsky-based training techniques to Australia, having studied directly under Lee Strasberg). Clarence is a passionate observer, analyst and teacher of performance technique. Over the last 7 years he has dedicated his time to exploring and refining training techniques in acting for stage and screen. He is the principle architect and pioneer of The Actors Studio's groundbreaking approach. In addition to his coaching work Clarence has a hand in many other pies: As an actor his work includes WIT for the Ensemble Theatre, HAVE CROSS WILL TRAVEL for TV, various TVC, indie theatre and a regular appearance as Aaron the friendly Commonwealth Bank guy on CBA's national weekly training segment; he directed and produced the world premiere production of MILK by Rowan Ellis at the Old Fitzroy Hotel Theatre in 2003, produced TWO FOR THE ROAD starring Amos Szeps and Michael Booth for the Group Theatre at Belvoir Downstairs and was Assistant Director for Denise Roberts on THE OLDEST PROFESSION at the Ensemble Theatre.

TESTIMONIALS
"The classes I have taken at the Actors Studio have been a revelation. Clarence has opened my eyes to a depth of knowledge I thought impossible. His understanding of the important theories: Stanislavsky, Strasberg, Meisner, Adler and others is comprehensive, and his insightful observations of the student's personality allows him to synthesise and modify their principles and practices, tailoring them to the individual. An acting class with Clarence is part performance, part psychoanalysis, as he helps you to discover your own limitations, and shows you the tools to overcome them. His quest for truth is never ending, and his knowledge and dedication to the craft infects every student."
