2 YEAR INTENSIVE ACTING PROGRAM

The Actors Studio 2 Year Intensive Acting Program offers comprehensive training in acting & performance for stage and screen for committed individuals seeking professional careers in theatre, film and television.

The program is designed to thoroughly prepare actors for the rigours of professional work as actors in the entertainment industry including professional acting auditions, work on the set for film and television, work on stage, and the business of acting including dealing with agents, casting directors, production companies and creative teams. Graduates from the program can expect to be equiped with the key tools necessary to start a professional career, an in-depth appreciation of the actors craft and a finely tuned individual creative process that makes the most of their individual artistry.

Students undertake a minimum of 3 classes per week (part time) or up to 5 classes per week (full time), choosing from a variety of daytime and evening sessions available.

STUDIO STAGE PRODUCTIONS

Students undertake a minimum of 3 full scale stage productions before graduating. Studio stage productions offer the chance to put into practice skills developed over the arc of the program. The studio produces 3-4 stage productions each year, performed at our studio performance space for students and invited guests. Productions are directed by working professional and independent theatre directors invited by the studio to work with our students.

OUR APPROACH

The Actors' Studio has pioneered a unique step-by-step training process drawing together techniques from leading international master teachers including Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Constantin Stanislavsky, Eric Morris, Ivana Chubbuck and others to examine the actor's craft via a powerful process of working from a place of personal truth.

The program is a challenging journey exploring the complete toolbox of the professional actor, equipping performers to harness the raw power of real emotion, personal life experience and honest communication to create a vivid sense of truth on stage or screen. A culture of excellence and professionalism is carefully fostered at every stage in the process and emphasis is placed on the development of a rich sense of artistry and craft.

DURATION & ATTENDANCE

Part Time Study - Students attend 3 classes per week (12hrs) including two (2) acting technique classes plus one (1) voice class each week. Once at intermediate stage within the program students are also required to undertake additional hours of rehearsal on top of class work. This adds approx. 2hrs to per week to each student’s schedule. During periods where students are involved with major stage productions, additional rehearsal time may increase up to approx. 15hrs per week. Full Time Study - Students who opt for full time study undertake an additional two (2) classes each week.

GRADUATION & PROFESSIONAL SHOWREEL

On completion of the 2 Year Intensive Program, graduates of The Actors Studio receive a graduation certificate, assistance with creating a professional DVD showreel, assistance with obtaining professional representation from an actors agent and assistance with arranging meetings with leading casting directors across Sydney.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & APPLICATION DETAILS

Application for enrolment in our 2 Year Intensive Program is open to all actors 18 years and over (minimum age of 17 years on application applies). Entry is via interview/audition. Applications for February 2009 enrolment are currently open and will be accepted up till January 18, 2009. Auditions will be held on various dates Nov-Feb. Once we receive your application form one of our staff will contact you to book a suitable audition date.
