COURSE OVERVIEW
The Actors Studio Australia Graduate Program (2 Year Intensive) offers comprehensive training in acting & performance for committed individuals seeking professional careers in film, television and theatre. The program is designed to thoroughly prepare graduates for the rigours of professional work as actors in the entertainment industry including professional acting auditions, work on the set for film and television, work on stage, and the business of acting including dealing with agents, casting directors, production companies and creative teams. Graduates from the program can expect to be equiped with the key tools necessary to start a professional career, an in-depth appreciation of the actors craft and a finely tuned individual creative process that makes the most of their individual artistry. The course is approximately 2 years with each year divided into five (5) seven-week terms. Students undertake a minimum of 14 hours per week (part time) or up to 22 hours per week (full time), choosing one of four delivery modes offering daytime or evening classes.
MAJOR PERFORMANCES
The Actors Studio Australia mounts four (4) major performances each year. Prominent professional directors are invited by the studio to work with our students offering a valuable opportunity to gain experience and develop professional relationships with prospective employers. Students in this course undertake a minimum of three (3) major performances before graduating. Major performances represent the culmination of course work and an opportunity to utilise the skills developed across the arc of the program in a live performance environment. Major theatre productions show in The Actors Studio Australia theatre studio in Nov/Dec in first year and then throughout the year in 2nd year.
COURSE CONTENT
The program is made up of fifteen (15) units of study including four (4) core acting technique units, three (3) voice units, three (3) script performance units, one (1) camera unit, one (1) business of acting unit and three (3) major theatre productions. The units are:
Acting 1 - (Key Principles, Working with Imagination, Improvisation)
Acting 2 - (Actions & Objectives)
Acting 3 - (Emotional Techniques)
Acting 4 - (Characterisation)
Script Skills 1 - (Scene analysis, Rehearsal techniques, Substitution)
Performance 1 - (Scripted performance practice - 1st year)
Performance 2 - (Scripted performance practice - 2nd year)
Camera - (on-camera performance and screentest audition skills)
Voice 1 - (Vocal warm up, Vocal Production, Resonance, Articulation - 1st year)
Voice 2 - (Vocal warm up, Vocal Production, Resonance, Articulation - 2nd year)
Dialect 1 - (accents and dialects)
The Business of Acting - (how to launch and sustain your career)
Production 1 - (major theatre performance)
Production 2 - (major theatre performance)
Production 3 - (major theatre performance)

The Actors' Studio Australia is the only school in Australia teaching an exclusive combination of techniques developed by international master teachers in the USA and Europe. Our groundbreaking program encompasses the work of legendary greats Meisner, Strasberg and Stanislavski as well as contemporary "gun" teachers from Los Angeles such as Ivana Chubbuck and Eric Morris. PROPOSED DELIVERY TIMES
Daytimes 1 - Tue 12pm-4pm, Wed 12pm-6pm, Thur 12pm-6pm (part time)
Daytimes 2 - Tue 12pm-4pm, Wed 12pm-4pm, Sat 10am-4pm (part time)
Nights/Weekend - Tue 6.15-10.15pm, Wed 6.15pm-10.15pm, Sat 10am-4pm (part time)
Custom Timetable - a tailored individual schedule being a mixture of the above times (part time)
Full Time Study - F/T students undertake a mixture of the above times incl. day & evening classes.
GRADUATION, ISSUE OF CERTIFICATE & PROFESSIONAL SHOWREEL
On completion of the program, graduates of The Actors Studio Australia receive a certificate of completion, assistance with creating a professional DVD showreel, assistance with obtaining professional representation from an actors agent and assistance with arranging meetings with leading casting directors across Sydney.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Application is open to all actors 18 years and over (minimum age of 17 years on application applies). Applicants must:
have completed HSC or equivalent
possess a high level of english language proficiency
possess strong communication skills
have full physical mobility and function
The following are also taken into account when assessing candidates: skills, talent, apptitude, passion, commitment, attitude, professionalism, capacity to complete the program, previous performance experience, emotional maturity and individual life experience.
APPLICATIONS
Applications for January 2011 enrolment will open August 1st 2010 and will be accepted up till January 21st, 2011. Entry is via interview/audition. Auditions will be held on various dates Nov-Jan.
